ヤミッラ : (04 February 2012 - 09:55 PM) It's war in Afganistan, and it's currently the most dangerous place on earth.
Super : (04 February 2012 - 09:43 PM) ?
ヤミッラ : (04 February 2012 - 09:42 PM) How is Call of Duty called in Afganistan?
The Sims.
ヤミッラ : (04 February 2012 - 09:17 PM) Probably, I'm not at your home.
Evil Bidoof : (04 February 2012 - 09:15 PM) So I've got 0 switches and 0 routers? #BabblinNonsense
ヤミッラ : (04 February 2012 - 09:13 PM) In short, a Switch balances speed over the connected devices, and uses some sort of databases of known devices.
A Hub shares some amount of speed, varying the amount of devices, and has no database, so it connects any device right away.
Evil Bidoof : (04 February 2012 - 09:12 PM) (Cable length)
Evil Bidoof : (04 February 2012 - 09:11 PM) While this "hub" actually limits speed varying on distance. 1,5m is 10mbps and 5m is 6mbps.
ヤミッラ : (04 February 2012 - 09:11 PM) The next one that doesn't know the difference.
Evil Bidoof : (04 February 2012 - 09:09 PM) Well, in that case I've got two switches, one called "hub".
ヤミッラ : (04 February 2012 - 09:08 PM) I was talking about LAN's, not Chargers.
Evil Bidoof : (04 February 2012 - 09:07 PM) In biggest rooms my mum needs 3 charging hubs! It's cause College in Ciechanów is a bit old.
ヤミッラ : (04 February 2012 - 09:07 PM) No, the main difference is, a Hub has one single speed, which shares over all connected devices.
Example: 10 Mbps over 10 devices = 1 Mbps.

In the same example, a Switch shares 10 Mbps over 10 devices, and all of them still use 10 Mbps.
Evil Bidoof : (04 February 2012 - 09:06 PM) No, I mean that the charging cable isn't unlimited, same as projector cable.
Evil Bidoof : (04 February 2012 - 09:05 PM) Ah, this laptop is connected to projector.
ヤミッラ : (04 February 2012 - 09:05 PM) That's a veeery relevant argument for having a keyboard-less device. #Sarcasm.
Evil Bidoof : (04 February 2012 - 09:05 PM) Ik that switch boosts signal, but hub is cheaper. And I need more sockets.
Evil Bidoof : (04 February 2012 - 09:04 PM) So, I found one argument. When my mum teaches students, she usually uses 15,4" laptop 2,8kg heavy and 20 minutes on battery...
ヤミッラ : (04 February 2012 - 09:03 PM) Many ICT Students here don't even know what's the difference, lol.
ヤミッラ : (04 February 2012 - 09:03 PM) Then I'd recommend you to remove that Hub, since you already have a Switch, and a Switch is way better.
