You know, you have the new OpenOffice.org 3.0, but Avant Window Navigator (from here, we will call it, Avant Dock) displays a big, boring icon.
Here we will see how you can temporary change that.

Start a random OOo program, like Writter.

Woot!
I liek splash screenies! ^.^

You're now............................ here!

Right click on the OOo icon and choose "Change Icon".

Let's find a piccy.
I'll choose Finder.

And there you are. :-)

It's pretty easy to replace something ugly for something nice.
But remember, this is just temporary.
As soon as you close the application, the icon returns to it's default.
