Thread: Your Texture Hacks
Author Posted on 2015/09/01
DarkFlare This is my first full course texture hack, and obviously it's not as good as MH&Gs or anyones, but the MK7 scene lacks both good and bad custom tracks, because only a few people are making them (unlike MKWii, where there were hundreds of developers). Anyway, the current version is 0.2 Beta. I'll post both video links.

v0.1 Beta:

Download: Deleted, use v0.2 since it's better

v0.2 Beta:

Would upload to store.dshack.org, but I'm not registering for it. Leave a little feedback, but not too negative.

DarkFlare This is my second full texture hack for Mario Kart 7, and it's a little better. I will be updating this one more than Garden Galaxy, so stay tuned.

v0.1:

Download: https://mega.nz/#!agY1nTCT!7Nh7e1-b-DM5LyP-JQpIsJY8smqYTdeeQPOMCUh703Q

Leave comments and suggestions below. It's untextured in some parts because EFE doesn't support more than 18 textures.

DarkFlare My first NES ROM hack. It is pointless and makes many levels impossible to beat.

I actually don't like this one, if I can be honest.
You've put Random Textures all over the place, it doesn't even fit.
I understand it's still in Beta, but if I take the Road for example, you should add a Border on the left and right side, so it'll look nicer already.

Or it might only seem bad, because you're using a Camera?
That's another possibility.

Which one?

Originally, I was talking about the Garden one, but it actually applies to both.

I spent a decent ammount of time on the second one, just to find out that EFE won't import more than 28 textures, even though it exported 23. If I give you the textures + obj, can you make a BCMDL/BCRES for it?

DarkFlare I can't be much more descriptive than that...

I have a custom track for MK7 and need to make a KMP for it so laps can be completed. How do I do this?

DarkFlare I can use KMP expander to export as CSV, and then edit it in notepad. But how do I find the proper values?

If you want to learn how to get models out of other Mario Kart games, you can check out the Porting Tutorial on wiki.tockdom.com. However, it would be nice if you ported a different track as I'm currently attempting to port GCN Yoshi Circuit. I already have the model as BCMDL. Having duplicate ports would just be a waste of time and energy.

No problem. I know you've made a ton of good custom tracks for MKW and i'm just a newcomer, so you can do it. I agree that it's not efficient if two people work on the same tracks at the same time. I'll remake Luigi Circuit instead.

Also @mkgirlism I don't intend to get into any illegal rom activity here, but how would I get these supposed SZS files for Mario Kart 7?

It would be greatly appreciated if you could port another damn track, I have the course done besides the KMP (mkgirlism is working on it) and lag. Try wiiDaisy circuit or wiiLuigi circuit!

DarkFlare Now i can finally make a KMP! So if I drag a itembox over my new OBJ model, it will automatically determine the height? That seems very helpful. Maybe later once everything is working good, you can have the option to edit y axis.

And I'm also having a very dumb problem. Sometimes, it allows me to drag points, but sometimes i have to click like 10 times before it to move...

DarkFlare First of all, your BCMDL is named wrong. But apparently that's not the only issue, because it froze when I named it properly.

So that means it's an issue with the KMP. I have personally never made a KMP that works, even though i follow exact guides from people, and moving a single point causes the game to crash. But it looks like your checkpoints are too close.

and btw i was also working this track, but we can have 2
