| User 281 | I was following the tutorial on how to insert custom voices into MKDS, but when I got to the step where you open the sound files in MKDSCM I got stuck.... I press the .swar file like I'm going to open it but nothing happens... I thought maybe it was jut the version I was using, but I tried the version in the tutorial and it won't work either.... I've tried dragging the file in, Opening the file (Open Button), and double clicking the file, but nothing happens.... |

Well, the explanation is simple, MKDSCM cannot open Swar files, out side of the sdat file. This also goes for any other file in the sdat. You can consider MDSCM an out of support program, and it along with EFE, and Mario Kart Tool Box, more likely than not, will never get anymore support, or fixes/additions. It's prone to bugs, and as such, and it cannot open all files. |

Then How in Step 7 of Yawshi's " How to enter custom voices/sounds in Mario kart" Did Yawshi do it? Am I missing something? |

Well, there are tools that can do more like, VGMTrans. I usually hate giving this answer, but you'll have to Google things, I'm sure you'll find something. Unless a user that know more, can actually help you. |

Again , all this back and forth for something extremely simple. The answer , if im not mistaken , is that you need another version of MKDSCM The lastest one , that has a Toad icon , does not open single swav or swars The one with Bee Mario as an icon can open them individually. I have tested this , and it is that way. As i have said before to another user , if thats not the case then something else is on your end. |
