Azareal A little bit of advice, you might want to use HTTP/2 and maybe a CDN (e.g. Cloudflare) to speed up the page load times. CDNs have data-centers all over the world, so they can serve CSS files, JS files, etc. from the one closest to a user :mew:

Azareal Oh sorry, I saw a post about the latency issue, so I posted that lol

I haven't heard anything about political issues with them before.
I thought they were neutral to the point of leaving borderline illegal sites up (DDoS for hire and the like).

HTTP/2 is a new major version of HTTP.
It's supposed to be significantly faster, particularly when under higher latency.

With HTTP/1.1, it can only process one request at a time on a single TCP Connection and browsers will usually open multiple connections to compensate.
HTTP/2 on the other hand allows the browser to use the same connection for multiple requests simultaneously and certain resources can be prioritised over others.

HTTP/2 is also a binary protocol, so it can transmit data more compactly and is faster to process.
The headers are also compressed which helps to reduce the sizes of little files.
There is also server push where you can push certain resources for future use, although it can backfire if the client already has it cached.

Azareal I found an interesting tool for pinging a bunch of different locations.

There does seem to be a bit of packet loss, if I do a ping in cmd.exe to speed.076.ne.jp
The underwater cables do seem to take a bit of a winding path, although I'm not sure if that has much to do with it: https://www.submarinecablemap.com

Azareal I'm not really sure what to make of these times either.

Telstra is apparently upgrading their network and more underwater cables seem to be under construction, so hopefully, that'll eliminate a bit of latency there.
It would be nice if they resolved their feud with Cloudflare too, unless a site has Argo enabled, Cloudflare has a tendency of routing requests up to somewhere in Asia and back down again, I'm not sure where exactly, but it's around 10 to 20ms faster than hitting Japan.

Telstra is practically a monopoly around here.

Azareal One of those servers is in the same city as me lol

I'm not quite sure what it says, but should a bunch of them be red?

Azareal It was a really long time ago, so my memory is pretty dull, but my first ones were mostly PS1 games.
Ones like Spyro, etc.

And legal websites usually don’t work over here because the content is meant for people in countries other than Japan apparently.

I never really got why they do that, but I'm fairly sure it's a licensing issue in that specific country.
One theory is that they want to sell their blu-ray discs or something.

Azareal I haven't posted in here yet, but I like playing games, programming things, etc.

I joined because I like talking to ?訪?, he has some very interesting videos, likes Touhou and codes things too (^_^)
I have done little hacks before around say... When was it. 2009. Wow, that was a long time ago.

I'm mainly here to chat and to make new friends, although I do find the topic of the site intriguing.
P.S. I have a bad habit of appending lol to the end of my sentences.

Go to kissanime or gogoanime, you can start watching anime fast even though these sites are ass and contain 19230 ads. Otherwise if you want to do it the "legal" way, use Crunchyroll or something.

Amazon was apparently snatching up exclusive contracts for a small handful of currently airing anime titles (probably outside of Japan). I think they make you pay for a lot of extra things you might not use though, so they're probably overkill.
