Thread: Applying custom tracks problem
Author | Posted on 2017/11/15 |
nohax3win | When applying certain custom tracks to Mario Kart DS in EFE, it is listed as a default file instead of an archive. When I try loading the track in Mario Kart DS, the game crashes. Ermii Kart DS somehow doesn't have that problem, with no track archives, but uses default files instead. Help! |

No MKDS Hacks have that issue, EKDS isn't a special case when it comes to inserting tracks without crashing, it sounds like you're importing the tracks the wrong way. Oh. I think there isn't a decryption tool, but is there? |

nohax3win | Oh well. All I wanted was to use Wii and 3DS tracks in DS. I own those games anyway. |

nohax3win | The title says it all. CTools BMG editor doesn't work (obviously), and the MKDS Course Modifier doesn't even save files at all. The thing is, I need a new BMG editor. Help? |

nohax3win | I said I'm looking for a bmg editor that works for bmg files from DS roms. |

nohax3win | But it doesn't save files! |

Yes, your right, but the last time I tried editing a bmg file that was not in the rom and injected it back in, it still didn't work. Maybe I have to try again. EDIT: The file size changed, but the changes weren't made. I'll try injecting into more Menu2D archives. EDIT 2: Didn't work. Maybe need to try the saving again??? EDIT 3: It worked now! |

Here's how editing track text works: You need the rom, EFE, and MKDS Course Modifier. Open your rom in EFE. Go to the data folder. Open the Menu2D.carc file with your language on it (example: Menu2D_us.carc) but DO NOT OPEN THE ONE WITH NO LANGUAGE! Export common.bmg. Open common.bmg in MKDSCM. Now you can edit stuff. Click the save button. NOTE THAT THIS BUTTON WON'T WORK IN EFE! For me, at least. Now open the rom in EFE and go to the data folder. Open the Menu2D.carc file with your language on it again. Replace the common.bmg with your new one. Go to File > Save. Exit the carc file window. NOT THE WHOLE EFE PROGRAM! Go to File > Save again. Now you can exit EFE. You're done! Now test the rom on your emulator/flashcard/TWLoader/SLoader or whatever. |

nohax3win | The problem is simple. When I edit character/battle course names from common.bmg, they don't appear in the character select screen for Grand Prix and Time Trials. But the battle course names edited in the common.bmg appear in the battle course preview before the actual battle. Can I get any help? Maybe I need to edit a different BMG file? |

I'm back at the hacking again. I don't think that is proper English, but who cares? I want to know how to edit track names in Mario Kart 7. I know how to do it in Mario Kart DS and Wii though. It might not be too hard. All I need to know are the programs I need and where to find the file containing track names. I am assuming it's a BMG file inside of another file, like DS and Wii. Thanks for your help! Edit: I found out how. |

nohax3win | I have a new question. How do I import custom items into my MKDS rom? I have EFE, and MKDSCM for MKDS hacking stuff. Any help, please? |

I guess now I'm making a custom track. That's all my introduction is. Let me just go through it quickly. I made a MKDS CT model with Sketchup. Just so you know; I reversed the faces, and lifted the model off the ground. I used the OBJ exporter (supposedly an old version) and fixed it in MKDSCM successfully. Next is where there were problems. I used MKDSCM to make a new nsbmd file with the MKDS scaling, and the create nsbtx options, enabled. I proceeded, and MKDSCM just stopped working. I had no idea why. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ;) |

An image? I guess here's what I have. I only took pictures of the views I thought were necessary: Top Iso Bottom |

Yes. I guess I have to start my model over. Does Blender export to OBJ? Perhaps the first word in this message is the answer? |

I just remembered that I'm using the old version of an OBJ exporter. Maybe that's the problem? I'm not sure why nobody else noticed that I said that i'm using an old version of an obj exporter. It's not even the official OBJ exporter, so I'll try the actual one. I used Sketchup Pro, by the way. An SMH against myself. |

nohax3win | I just tried exporting to OBJ with the actual exporter, fixing the UVs, and making the nsbmd. It still didn't work. |

nohax3win | I also can't open OBJ files in Blender. |
